When you’re out in the field and find an old 20 circa the 1950’s which you can tell because of the markings “Glendora, Calif. U.S.A.” What is cool about this guy is the flap above the nozzle that helps to tap down the stream and control the throw distance. This is something Orton included on his original 60 prototype sprinkler.

Continuing our conversation re: Orton Englehart and his "impact" on irrigation. Here is his 3rd patent for a spinner sprinkler. Launched as the #5 "Control-Flow Sprinkler" in 1941.
"My invention relates to water sprinklers of the rotating jet type and has for its principal objects to … automatically discharge a predetermined quantity of water regardless of the pressure prevailing in the supply line to which the sprinkler is connected and further, to provide simple and efficient means for minimizing leakage through the joint or bearing between the rotating body of the sprinkler and the supply pipe on which said body is mounted."

LFX x Nursery
We’re loving this application of LFX Sprinklers for the Nursery application. It’s a little strip next to some shade houses and this sprinkler has just the right throw radius to cover it. What’s great about this shot is the angle. Sure it seems a bit “messy” but you can see it’s a bit windy and also the many large water droplets that make up our Rain Curtain Technology.

LF Edge Guard Mod
While it’s probably a lot easier to do this before you install the edge guard on the sprinkler, here you see it’s pretty simple to trim up our LF Edge Guards with the pre-marked lines and a dremel.
